Mission Statement
The Goldens Bridge Day Camp was founded to foster a sense of community within the Goldens Bridge Colony. The primary purpose of the camp is to serve children of Colony families, and, as space permits, to welcome children from surrounding communities and provide enriching and unique experiences.
Using the unique facilities of the Colony – the historic Barn and playing field behind the Barn, the Lake, and the Colony woods – the camp offers a variety of activities ranging from arts and crafts and drama to sports and swimming. Off-site, the camp offers children the opportunity to further explore what they experience in camp through field trips in the county and the tri-state region. We want to foster a love of the environment and our own seventeen acres."
Through a non-competitive atmosphere, the camp provides opportunities for campers to develop their individual strengths, knowledge and skills, and indepence and creativity. Challenges are offered at varying developmental levels. The camp provides an integrated experience for children of all backgrounds, and helps campers to develop a respect for differences among their peers.
Each child at the Goldens Bridge Day Camp is viewed as unique, important, and special. In a child-centered environment where cooperation is stressed, campers grow in confidence, mastery, and enjoyment, both as individuals and as members of a larger community. Every summer, children have the opportunity to make new friends and renew friendships. A friendly and caring interaction between and among campers and counselors is strongly encouraged.
The camp encourages families to play an active role in their child’s(ren’s) camp experience, and parents are always welcomed as volunteers in a number of capacities. In a larger sense, the camp becomes a supportive “family” where each camper feels a sense of belonging and has a voice.
