My family has had a great experience so far staying at the park's campground. It's been much more quiet than our usual camping location, which is a big plus. In fact, staying at a Virginia State Park has pretty much blown away our usual camping experience. There are much fewer camping sites overall, but that's not necessarily a bad thing (less noisy neighbors); plenty of hiking available; beach, boating, kayaking, etc.; and fishing, of course. I sure we'll be back again, and we recommend you come visit, as well.

We enjoyed our time here. The beach area was sweet. It reminds me of those "summer camp movie scenes". Very classic look and feel. We hiked all the way around the lake, which is possible despite what the trail map says (there is a fire road that connects the trails near the waterfall/dam.) There seems to be plenty of shore-fishing spots all around.

We’re from out of state and we camped here for the first time a few days ago. We stayed for 4 days and 3 nights, it was amazing. I booked this trip months ago and I got to reserve the best site on the Acorn Loop, A11. We were right next to the lake and it was beautiful and relaxing. We had such a wonderful time, we had the bathroom to ourselves since we were the only ones there for that part of the week. The bathrooms are okay, but it’s camping so I wasn’t expecting much. Showers were okay, the water pressure was perfect as well as the temperature. Some camps hot water runs out during your shower and gets cold fast, but not this one! We never got a chance to explore the whole campground because we planned a lot of stuff to do all around Virginia, but we will be returning and we’ll explore more next time!

Bear Creek is our favorite camping spot. The staff is great and helpful, the bathrooms are clean and the campsites are not too close together. We went on an evening walk through the woods with a guide and she was very nice even though we weren't the quietest group.

Nice park with a ton of stuff to do. The trails are nice, and if you get too hot you can go take a dip in the lake for a minimal price. Definitely going to add this place to my list of returns for state parks.
