Bear Den Campground and cabin guests love our lake for swimming, fishing and canoeing. We have a sandy beach and playground, so the whole family can have a fun get-away in the NC Mountains. Bring your pole - no North Carolina fishing license needed.

Paddle boats and canoes are available for rent plus Bear Den offers basketball, badminton, volleyball, shuffleboard and horse shoe courts, playground and a game room with pool and arcade games.

*Bear Den's campground and rental cabins are open from the first week in March through November 30 - weather permitting. Early spring and late fall in the NC high mountains are tricky to predict. Select Cabins are available for rental year-round.

A good campsite. I can't say I was impressed with any of the facilities, but the washrooms were clean (although the one near our site was locked, so it was a ten minute walk Everytime) and the lake was quite nice. There were lots of playgrounds for the younger kids, and plenty of nearby activities. I will say, if you get a chance, go in early April or late March, because it's low season for tourists. We went on spring break, and the camp was almost empty (there was plenty of loud singing on our part, so this was a blessing). Honestly, this is just a good campsite for a casual family camping trip. (It's cheap, too!)

We stayed two nights in camper C-03. The camper was fully stocked to meet all of our needs! It even had makeup remover packs in the bathroom! There was a phone number on the booklet we texted to see where to get firewood and they immediately brought it up right to the door and put it on a tab for us! Remarkable customer service! There was an Easter Egg hunt they put on for the kids that was so fun and so thoughtful! We went on the red trail and the blue trail (to a 50 ft waterfall) that were both awesome! Some rough terrain at times but very well kept and well marked trails! The waterfall is gorgeous! This is a remote campground and feels very “in the middle of nowhere “ but is actually only 15 minutes from Walmart so it is a super convenient location! The campground was well maintained and super family friendly! The camper was more than we could have asked for! And the prices were great! We can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic place to get away. We will definitely come back. Everyone that decides to come visit should go and explore Linville caverns.
