Big Lake State Park

204 Lake Shore Drive

Cool waters and abundant wildlife make Big Lake State Park a place to get away in northwest Missouri. Visitors can canoe and jet ski on the state's largest oxbow lake that adjoins the park or watch for smooth soft-shelled turtles lazing away the day in the park's marsh. Big Lake is a wetland that migrating birds use as a resting stop, affording bird watchers an unparalleled opportunity to see yellow-headed blackbirds, blue herons, soras and rails. Take advantage of the campingopportunities while you are there.

The camp site is great. Nice and flat with gravel camp slots. Its always clean with nice shower houses and the atmosphere is great. I'd give 5 stars if there were more things to do. If you are happy with the lake and your camp site, then you'll be just fine. The camp driving area is paved, loops around, and is perfect for the kids to ride bikes throughout the camping area.

Very nicely kept and quiet, naturally busier on weekends. There's a nice boat launch on the lake and 2 playgrounds for the children, also a community pool. Nice flat campsite with a fire pit and picnic table. We are enjoying it here, great area for walks or bike rides.

Beautiful place. Unfortunately I wish it had a beach area. Boating was 50$ an hour to rent. They have cute cabins to rent also. Lots of places for camping. Had a little store to buy goods. Lake was really beautiful and is very unique set up. Lots of opportunity to lease or own a house. It would be a beautiful place to vacation at. Plus it does have a pool with life gaurd on duty.

Large, level, somewhat shaded sites right on the lake with great views. Facilities were clean and the camp host was great, accepting us after hours. We'll definitely stop by on our way through MO again.

Rebuilding after the flood is looking good. Lake is shallow and unfortunately has Asian carp. Though we have not stayed in the campgrounds, they are pretty, and shaded. Tiny house cabins are available to rent.
