Dnr was rude and we had multiple campers set up and family here. Drove by every thirty minutes. Said if we keep quite we don’t have to move our cars. If you want to have any kind of fun with a group go somewhere else. A dull whisper is too loud. Also there was a huge brown recluse spider living in the picnic table and had a huge nest. Glad we came across it consider we had a lot of young kids around. By the other reviews I have read you are targeted if you come in a group. Family fun is better off else where. Maybe instead of worrying about groups spending time with their family they should check tables, bathrooms etc for spiders or other safety concerns.

Small camp site. We reserved #17. It was so small and we had two tents. Luckily the people at #18 had left and we moved over but that site was quite small too. The camping area has mature trees which is nice and the bathroom was fine. We stayed less that 24 hours because the bugs were so bad from flooding a few weeks prior. We did not explore the trails due to the number of bugs.

Loved the park. Beautifully maintained. Especially enjoyed the camp host. He was very accommodating.

Rock formations remind of Ledgers state park. Large rocks in the park. Large trees, Des Moines river next the park. I notice small cabins, cheep. 35 a day. I drove park through the park. But read history of the park and hiking trails looks interesting. I going to go back and explore this park.
