Wantagh - Jones Beach State Park

1 Ocean Parkway

World famous Jones Beach State Park, home of 6.5 miles of beautiful white-sand beach on the Atlantic Ocean, is made up of more than 2,400-acres of maritime environment on the south shore of Long Island. Among the 6 to 8 million visitors to the park each year, families enjoy their own piece of the beach for a day, with many returning dozens of times through the summer. Designed on the theme of an ocean liner, Jones Beach offers many activities to those who visit the park. They swim in the ocean, stroll the boardwalk, fish, visit an historic exhibit, get a bite to eat at one of the many concession stands, play miniature golf, shuffleboard and basketball, attend concerts at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater or learn about the marine environment at the Theodore Roosevelt Nature Center. Other activities that take place in the park include pool swimming, sunbathing, bicycling, surfing, and visiting the playgrounds.

Jones Beach State Park is an amazing place with a wonderful Boardwalk. Be prepared to have fun. There is a mini golf course, ping pong, tennis, and so much more. Or just walk on the boardwalk. And of course there is always the beach. Don't forget there are plenty of restaurants from fast food to sit down. I have been going there since I was a child and it has been wonderful to see it develop over the years.

Very nice beach which is home to air show on Memorial Day weekend. Great spot to bird watch and seal watch in the winter when there are much less people. Can get crowded on nice days during the summer. Parking fee is $10 from Memorial Day Weekend through Labor Day when there are lifeguards on duty. Fee is $8 on weekends April to Memorial Day weekend & Labor Day to November. Also has a pool during the summer for a fee.

Enjoyed the seal walk led by the friendly and knowledgeable staff of the Jones Beach Nature Center. The center is a kind of mini-museum with many creative displays They start with a brief, interesting presentation about the different types of seals we might see, about 15 minutes and very informative. You then get in your car and drive to a better vantage point, It was very windy and cold but I was dressed for it so that was fine. We walked approximately 1/2 mile and did see some seals out in the water. So cute! Bring binoculars and pick up some trash on your way off the beach, you may save a seal, turtle or bird's life! Here is a photo of what I hauled off the beach today😁

So much fun. Collected shells, took in the sun and enjoyed the water. Beware: rough waves lol I think that was the most intense work out I've had my whole life and I'm a good swimmer. Lost my sunglasses when a wave decided to jump me from behind but I had a great time and would definitely be going back in the summer.

I adore Jones Beach, especially field 4. Although, it is still winter there are plenty of people flocking to the beach. The board walk is very Festive and Lively even though everything is closed. On a warm day, pack a lunch and head out to the beach for a peaceful experience.
