Surrounded by the Ouachita National Forest, Lake Ouachita is known for its scenic natural beauty and the clarity of its waters. These pristine waters form the largest manmade lake within Arkansas's borders. Named one of the cleanest lakes in America, 40,000-acre Lake Ouachita is a water sports mecca for swimming, skiing, scuba diving, boating, and fishing. Angling for bream, crappie, catfish, stripers, and largemouth bass can be enjoyed in open waters or quiet coves along the lake's 975 miles of shoreline.

Located just a short drive from the spa city of Hot Springs on the lake's eastern shore, Lake Ouachita State Park is your gateway to this popular water sports lake.

Stopped off the main road near the entrance to gain access to the lake where it was less busy. The path down to the lake was short and easy to walk through. This was very helpful while carrying kayaks and paddleboards. The beach area was clean. Lake was of course clean. I could see down to my knees in neck deep water in the muddy shore area. Low traffic during the week day on an early afternoon. Boaters were respectful of wake. The game warden even dropped by to make sure everything was okay.

Just got back from a 4 day weekend. This park is gorgeous. We had a spot in campground “B”. There are 8 spots at this site (41-48). All are paved and level with full hookups. These sites are also big rig friendly. A 45’ motor home would fit in any of them. Sites 44-46 are fairly close together, but all the other sites have a great deal of room. That being said don’t be afraid of 44-46. There is still plenty of room to be comfortable. Also, the lake is directly behind them. I did notice that a couple large trees wouldn’t allow your awning to fully extend at site 44. Sites 41 & 42 are the largest, but your awning is opposite the lake. We were in 42 but that wasn’t a problem for us. There is almost enough room for another 36’ motor home to go in front of me.

One of the most beautiful campground I have been to in the country. The walk in tent sites are right on the water. I really enjoyed it but being so close to the lake makes it much more windy. The A area has separate single bathrooms with showers. This is really great for families wanting to shower and clean up together. The bathrooms are heated. Finally, the park staff are really friendly. Its a quick 30 min drive to Hot Springs and I'm very happy we stayed here instead of in the national park.

Very nice and well cared for State Park. For example several times a day trash and bathrooms were checked. All park employees that I encountered were friendly, especially the ones at the visitor center. The campgrounds were clean and well maintained. Plenty of wildlife during out stay, we saw deer, squirrels, at night there were raccoons and wild hogs so make sure you put your food up.
