Kailua - Lanikai Beach

Lanikai  means  "heavenly sea" in the Hawaiian language and when you see it you will know why it was given this name.  It is a pristine beach and a favorite of many Kailuans and visitors alike. Its mile long beach of fine white sand and surfless, turquoise water is perfect for a beach day with the kids and for enjoying the view of the world famous Mokulua Islands, about a mile off shore. The beach cove on one of the small islands and the surf between the two are big draws to kyakers and surfers.

One of the best white sand beach we visited. Sand is fine and soft. Water is clear and blue. One of the top spot to snap couple of photographes. No need for any filters view itself is magical. Water is shallow and idle for kids as well. Kayak enthusiast find this place good. Couple of small island near by makes the view magical. No!! public restrooms and showers.. No!! Life guard is available. No public parking. One can go for street parking as well. Location is near to one of the top hiking location - pillbox hike. So after a hike good place to go into water.

It was a very nice beach with the almost flat seabed. My kids enjoyed a lot. It has good places for Beach shower and picnic eating. The waves ran a little rough so I could not go more into the water. The the views are stunning and are mind-blowing. Parking might be a little problem as there is no dedicated large parking lot. There is some roadside parking facility available. I did not see any restrooms around.

It is still a beautiful place to look at from the distance. However, the crowds and tourists who don't give a damn have ruined this place. At one point this beach use to be pristine. Now there is trash all over the sand and good luck finding parking. My parents would bring me here when I was a kid, a lot has changed since then.

This beach is small and beautiful. Beware of fine sand staying with you long after your visit. But while you're there it feels incredible on your feet. The water is not too cold and you can even have a good time with a scuba mask! Come check this place out!

It was beautiful! Loved the scenery. If you like more of a laid back environment with an amazing view, this is the place. This beach doesn't have crazy waves. We also did a bit of snorkeling. Only downside is the parking. Only parallel parking alongside the roads of a neighborhood are available. If it's packed you have to keep driving in circles until someone leaves or until you find a good spot.
