Long Beach Island

Long Beach Boulevard

LBI, as Long Beach Island is known in the local lingo, is a beach lover's paradise. Even at the widest point of this 18-mile-long island strewn with small shore towns and long stretches of white sand, you're never more than half a mile from the other side. In the north part of the island is Barnegat Light, which encompasses Barnegat Lighthouse State Park and the commercial fishing port of Viking Village.

People who love LBI are super fans. There’s no boardwalk here so it attracts families mostly. It’s almost like going back in time to a simpler life and place. I grew up here so I see a different side of it than the weekly renters might. It’s an awesome place for a vacation, or to spend weekends decompressing from work. It is quiet with decent restaurants and great little shops. There’s miniature golf, bars, and an amusement park. Oh, and 18 miles of gorgeous beach. Yep. The beach is stunning. It’s 6 miles out to sea so it seems cleaner than other beaches to the north and south. There are all water sports and boat rides and boat rentals. Sailing on the Bay is wonderful. This is indeed one of my happy places. Hope it’s yours too.
