Mission:

The mission of the San Juan Preservation Trust is to preserve and protect open spaces, scenic views, forests, agricultural lands, habitats, watersheds, riparian corridors, wetlands and shorelines in the San Juan Archipelago.

About Us:

The San Juan Islands are a blessing of extraordinary beauty and abundant nature. Wind-swept shorelines, broad vistas, quiet forests, vital wildlife habitats, scenic farm lands...all are part of our special heritage.

Yet this unique heritage is soon to vanish as the natural features are eroded by steadily increasing use. The demand for land is forcing the conversion of precious undeveloped open land into home sites, encroaching on vulnerable ecosystems, destroying popular views, removing farmlands, and closing areas to people long accustomed to enjoying them as open space.

The San Juan Preservation Trust believes that this legacy carries with it a responsibility of stewardship, for this natural bounty is not ours alone, but a birthright of future generations. It is now, while the San Juans are largely unspoiled, that we must preserve its special beauty and natural value.

The Preservation Trust serves landowners who wish to protect the special features of their lands through voluntary private action. We offer the community the opportunity to create a legacy of unique natural areas and open spaces for future generations. We do this by counseling property owners on conservation techniques available to them, and on tax benefits which might be available to them from donations of land or easements. All inquiries to the Preservation Trust are without obligation and are confidential.
